TOA recently designed, built, and installed a first-of-its-kind Linear Steering Actuator assembly line. The machine is essentially a Servo Motor that drives a ball screw for precise and efficient forklift steering. It assists an operator in building a unit from start to finish, including:
1. Using Kistler servo presses to install bearings and bushings repeatably and reliably while collecting press-curve data for data storage purposes.
2. Several Atlas Copco wireless nut runners for quality assurance.
3. A custom Ballnut Assembly station that inserts 240 ball bearings into a ball nut/shaft assembly.
4. An automated Oil Fill station that precisely meters and measures 650mL of oil.
5.A custom PC programming station that matches the Linear Actuator’s controller to its unique motor properties (essentially tuning the servo).
