Material Handler (Full Time)
Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to support receiving, inventory organization, internal distribution, and shipping operations. This role requires a positive attitude and close collaboration with engineering, technical teams, and logistics staff to ensure accurate material handling and timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Physical Receiving

Unload UPS, FedEx, DHL, freight, and LTL deliveries

Compare packing slips to printed purchase orders (POs)
-
Highlight received quantities on POs
-
Identify and clearly mark missing, extra, or incorrect items
-
Inspect all items for damage
-
Take photos of damaged, incorrect, or questionable items
-
Immediately submit POs and packing slips to the supervisor for review
-
Set aside questionable items in a designated “Receiving Hold” area
-
Handle return shipments as required
2. Internal Distribution / Parts Crib
-
Label items clearly with job number, engineer name, or project
-
Deliver materials to the appropriate engineer or technician workstation
-
Store excess materials in correct parts crib locations
-
Maintain organized shelves, bins, and storage areas (labels, grouping, cleanliness)
-
Organize materials from closed projects and place them into the spare parts section
3. Inventory Support (Non-System Based)
-
Perform physical inventory counts only
-
Complete inventory count sheets accurately
-
Do not enter or adjust inventory in any system (system updates handled by Supervisor)
4. Preparing Outgoing Shipments
-
Properly pack and protect items using bubble wrap, foam, or crating
-
Measure package dimensions
-
Weigh boxes and pallets
-
Record shipping information on shipping forms (weight, dimensions, job number, destination)
-
Attach item lists, job numbers, and engineer information for verification
5. Shipping Coordination & Handoff

Provide shipping details to Purchasing Dept, including:
-
Weight
-
Dimensions
-
Ship-to address
-
Job number
-
Priority/urgency
-
Photos of packaged items
-
-
Assist with freight quotations as needed
-
Print and attach provided packing lists
-
Secure documents to boxes or pallets
-
Stage shipments for pickup
-
Notify engineers and technicians when items are staged on the dock
-
Handle basic calls with UPS regarding shipment delays
-
Contact LTL carriers if trucks are delayed
-
Notify supervisor immediately of any issues
6. General Support
-
Run errands for different departments as needed
-
Support other departments as needed
-
Cutting POs as needed
Preferred (But Not Required) Qualifications

Experience organizing oversized parts

Ability to use pallet jacks and forklifts
Qualifications
Education & Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Data entry experience required
-
Previous warehouse, parts, or logistics experience preferred

Forklift operation experience preferred but not required
-
Willingness to be trained if not certified

Skills & Competencies

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Good communication skills with internal teams and vendors

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 lbs regularly

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
-
Ability to work in a warehouse environment with temperature changes, dust, and noise

Frequent interaction with technicians, parts staff, drivers, and vendors
